There are two classes of membership in the Spokes-Women
motorcycle club: Full Member and Associate Member.
Full Membership
Full members may vote and hold office in the club. An individual is eligible
to be a Full Member of the Club if that person:
- Is female
- Is at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Is an active motorcyclist with a current valid motorcycle license
- Subscribes to the objectives of the Constitution of the Spokes-Women
Motorcycle Club and
- Purchases one Club vest and patch
Associate Membership
Associate members can not vote or hold an elected office in the club,
but they may be included in club discussions and may act as an official
representative of the club to outside groups. An individual is eligible
to be an Associate Member of the Club if such person:
- Is at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Is interested in motorcycles as a rider, passenger or enthusiast
(If the individual is a motorcycle rider, they must have a current
valid motorcycle license)
- Subscribes to the objectives of the Constitution of the Spokes-Women
Motorcycle Club
- Is sponsored by a Full Member and
- Purchases one Club vest and patch
Additionally, all members who ride motorcycles must pass a Motorcycle
Foundation Course within a year of joining the club and must participate
in at least one fund raising event during each calendar year.
Club Rules
The club has a few additional rules members must abide by to maintain
their membership. A member must:
- Abide by the provisions of the Spokes-Women Motorcycle Club Constitution
and Bylaws
- Pay annual dues to the Club
- Abstain from using illegal drugs or carrying illegal firearms while
participating in any Club activities and/or while wearing Club colors
- Wear Club colors only in accordance with the provisions outlined
in the bylaws
- Maintain a respectful attitude towards all Members and guests during
Club meetings and while participating in any Club activities and/or
while wearing Club colors
Admission to Membership
Full Members - Applicants meeting the requirements
stated above may be admitted to Full Membership if they:
- Attend three regular meetings, two of which must be consecutive
- Attend three Club activities two of which must be group rides
- Declare their intention to the Membership Chairperson by completing
an application for Membership. A period of no less than 90 days must
elapse from the application of Membership to the first eligibility
date for being voted in as a Member.
- Receive a majority vote for Membership by the Members attending the
meeting at which her Membership requirements are fulfilled (including
the 90-day probationary period)
- Pay in full the pro-rated annual dues to the Treasurer upon being
accepted into Membership
- Pay the Treasurer for a Club patch upon being accepted into Membership
- Agree to purchase a leather or cloth red vest similar to those worn
by Members. The Club patch shall be placed on the center back of the
vest
- Have passed a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course, or agree to pass
a course within one year of the date of Membership
Associate Members -Applicants meeting the requirements
stated above may be admitted to Associate Membership if they:
- Attend three regular meetings, two of which must be consecutive
- Attend three Club activities two of which must be a group ride, if
that person is a licensed motorcyclist
- Declare their intention to the secretary by completing an application
for Membership. A period of no less than 90 days must elapse from the
application of Membership to the first eligibility of being voted in
as a Member
- Receive a majority vote for Membership by the Members attending the
meeting at which the proposed associate Member ’s Membership
requirements are fulfilled (including the 90-day probationary period)
- Pay in full the pro-rated annual dues to the Treasurer upon being
accepted into Membership
- Pay the Treasurer for a Club patch upon being accepted into Membership
- Agree to purchase a leather or cloth red vest similar to those worn
by Members. The Club patch shall be placed on the center back of the
vest
- Have passed a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course, or agree to pass
a course within one year of the date of Membership if that person is
a licensed motorcyclist
- Are sponsored by a Full Member
Meeting Time and Location
Meetings start at 9 am from April through September and at 10 am from
October through March and are normally held on the second Sunday of
the month at the American Legion in Piscataway NJ. Click
